Came across this when working on an old installation of Acronis and I tried to add a new scheduled job that was to backup to a remote network share. A number of jobs running successfully were already using this share and on checking access I could create folders and files no problem. Running the new job however threw up the error “Username or password for the remote resource is incorrect”.
So whats the problem ? Well it appears to be something to do with the credentials in use to map the drive from the source to the target machine. Rather than break the other jobs by changing the mapping or the credentials used I found that using a UNC path as in serversharename allowed me to specify the remote backup file name and save the job before running successfully. So if you get the error – try a UNC path instead.
