Annual renewal time for Lotuslive has come round but as part of that the name on the license now reflects the Smartcloud moniker. Not much else has changed but it at least standardizes the name across all the smart branded services. I have been a little disappointed by the lack of further development of services that could be plugged into the base application. There were quite a few additions – the last notable was Sugarcrm – at the start but it seemed to dry up.
I have noticed that there are other platforms heading in the direction of Smartcloud and it would be a disappointed to see it fall behind when it carved out such an interesting niche. So I hope IBM have some surprises in mind for the service – preferably soon.
