More WordPress Goodies

As I mentioned before WordPress is an extensible platform for blogging. So what other useful addins are there ? This is just a small selection from the vast range out there but that I have found useful. For an absolute overload on the plugins available for WordPress – take a long look at

The TagALLY-for-WP plugin is applicable to wordpress 2.0.2 – 2.3.2.
It will display a distinctive tag cloud in sidebar, each tag in the tag cloud will pop up a tooltip that lists the hottest and latest posts’ excerpts and url links related with the tag.

WP-DB-Backup allows you easily to backup your core WordPress database tables. You may also backup other tables in the same database.

WassUp is a WordPress plugin to track your visitors in real time, it has a very readable and fancy admin console to keep tracks of your blog’s users visits. It has a “current visitors online” view and a more detailed “visitors details” view when you can know almost everything your users are doing on your blog.

WassUp captures a lot of data like:
– ip / hostname
– referer
– spider
– searched engine
– searched keywords
– searched engine page
– operating system / language / browser
– pages viewed (chronologically and per user session)
– complete user agent

I find that this plugin adds some additional value in terms of the information I want to know about my audience.

This real-time plugin is dedicated to the management of statistics about blog visits. It collects information about visitors, spiders, search keywords, feeds, browsers etc.

Once the plugin StatPress has been activated it immediately starts to collect statistic information about blog visitors. In the Dashboard menu you will find the StatPress page where you could look up the statistics (overview or detailed).

StatPress also includes a widget one can possibly add to a sidebar (or easy PHP code if you can’t use widgets!).
