After updating another Windows 8.1 machine via the upgrade app – I was curious to see what the process would be for a Window 7 PC which had just popped up with the option to start the upgrade. A quick download and then a wait of about 10 seconds before I get the dreaded “Something Happened” – blue screen of uselessness.
After googling and finding some articles suggesting it related to language settings needing to be US but this didn’t seem to be the answer to my particular issue. So instead I went for the ISO image approach and burning it to DVD. There is also a USB boot option.
More on the outcome of the iso image upgrade shortly as I wait for it to progress but hopefully no more Microsoft “Something / Nothing happened” type messages.
