This problem appears regularly when removing the troublesome and generally unused BCM addon that came with the Outlook 2007 Small Business Edition. I haven’t come across too many companies using the addon as frankly its performance and reliability were sub par. I have though come across a lot of oddities that are traced back to it. Removing it is easy – simply backup any data you wish to keep and then use control panel to remove it. After reboot however and before you get logged on (if on a domain) you may experience a popup saying “SQLDumper library failed initialisation”.
The solution is simple – turn off the automatic start of the SQL Server VSS writer (make it manual) through services in control panel and restart the machine to confirm the error not longer appears.
