Does your amp go up to 11 ?

A part of enjoying an ipad for recreational use – heres one for you axe players out there.  The Peavey ampkit link is a small box with a lot of potential. Basically its  a high fidelity audio interface for the iPhone, iPod touch* and iPad. (*note not 1st gen touch).

** This would be great as a birthday present for any budding Gary Moores out  there **

The setup is very quick – install two batteries  and then plug in speakers or head phones and the guitar obviously and get ready for some redhot licks. I looked at a couple of different amp simulations but found I was most confortable with the ipad application Ampkit from the same supplier.

With a few basic amps settings and simple effects its easy to create that sound you’ve been after. You can pick up a range of other amps and pedals from the Apps store.

AmpKit LiNK Specs:

  • Connects to iPhone/iPod touch/iPad via 1/8-inch cable, automatically detected by iOS
  • 1/4-inch mono input jack for electric guitar, bass, and line level signal sources
  • 1/8-inch stereo output jack for connecting headphones, powered speaker, or PA system
  • Works with most recording, processing and tuning apps, including GuitarToolkit

I have to say that the sound – even from a cheap and cheerful strat clone has been remarked upon by anyone who has heard it.
