Aquasnap – helping manage your screen estate

I was recently looking for an application to help manage the large number of applications and windows that are open on my machine while working. With multiple screens it can become difficult to see the information you are after so I decided to look for something that might help manage the apps – like Ultramon – which gives me a task bar on each screen – which is great but that was more geared to the windows and apps.

So I found Aquasnap here and have been giving it a spin for the last few weeks

The developers say

AquaSnap is a free software that greatly enhances the way you can arrange windows on your Desktop. It gives you the possibility to snap windows to the edges or to the corners of the desktop simply by dragging and dropping them where you want.

AquaSnap is a great replacement for the Aero Snap and Aero Shake features of Windows 7 and is compatible with every Windows versions and consumes very little memory and CPU.

It certainly is the case that the app is not intrusive or resource hungry

the other point they make is

AquaSnap makes the window management much more ergonomic:
Drag a window to the border of your desktop, and this window will be snapped and resized to fit one half of the screen.
Drag this window to a corner, it will be snapped to fit one quarter.
Shake a window, and this window will stay always on top.
This even works with multiple monitors!

This is actually the more useful side of the tool as I found Windows 7 64 bit Aqua features less than reliable. It works with Ultramon and seems stable – more as I get use out of this but well worth a try if you have multiple screens.
