Performance data for this service will not be available. Status code returned is data DWORD 0.
Mmmm – mainly I’ve found this pesky error on Windows 2000 SBS servers (4 or 5 times) – tends to come out of nowhere (other than they seem to be linked to a windows update) and can re-appear several times. Usually the first you see of this is a very full event log.
So how do you stop it ? Well you should get the Windows 2000 Resource Kit Tool : Extensible Performance Counter List (exctrlst.exe) from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=7ff99683-b7ec-4da6-92ab-793193604ba4&displaylang=en.
Install the application on the machine with the problem – if you use the default location then run c:program filesresource kitexctrlst.exe and deselect the perforamance counters enable option for this DLL as shown below.
