Microsoft have thrown their tablet into the ring with the announcement of Surface TM by Microsoft. It was inevitable – from the release candidate tablet I saw at a partner event to the myriad rumours that others such as Dell and HP have theirs in the wings.
Do we need it ? Probably I think. The hardware and config that is based on laptops with touchscreens is not going to cut it. I have been disappointed by the performance and incompatibilities displayed with devices like the touchsmart tx2 from HP which should in my opinion just have worked with Windows 8 – no questions.
So no dates but watch this space for the battle between MS and Apple for the surface space.
