There’s the snag(it)!

One tool I use daily is Snagit from Techsmith. Documenting the work I do for clients and record that information quickly and with annotations requires a good tool for screen shots and marking up images. I’ve used the tool for many years – and each version has brought some new features or enhancements.

There are a couple of features that just make it so useful including

  • save the screen shot as a png (or 20 other image formats)
  • File new from clipboard – where the image you capture from another app can be notated etc
  • Taking multiple screen shots then using the library features to scroll back and get copies for say a helpdesk application
  • quickly rotating images that incorrectly displayed
  • timed capture – to get those pesky context menus that disappear with other screen capture apps
  • cross platform support – works same on mac and windows

This doesn’t cover a lot of the features of Snagit but for the sheer number of times a day I use it – its definitely worth looking at. If you do more than three screenshots a day you owe it to yourself to take a look – you wont be disappointed.
