0×80070424 error on XP when running Windows updates ?

I’ve encountered error number: 0×80070424 in Windows Update on a malware infected  netbook in the past. If you have this error you will not able to perform any windows update including using the windows update website. This can be caused by a dll registration problem.

To solve follow the steps below…

Click on Start -> Run

Then paste the command below and hit enter

%SYSTEMROOT%SYSTEM32REGSVR32.EXE %SYSTEMROOT%SYSTEM32WUAUENG.DLL

[This line is used to re-register WUAUENG.DLL in windows]

Then reboot the PC and run updates.
