Quite literally – the “infinite digital bookcase” which Google are using to showcase Google books uses a spinning carousel (familiar to students and shoppers of a certain age) to show books held in an infite 3d Helix which you spin to select books to look at. You need to be using Google Chrome as your browser and then go here to see it. Bit disappointed with the limited subject matter and number of titles in the Computing section. However this does suggest that we will be seeing more of this kind of technology to get round screen real estate issues and away from the dreadful 6 or 8 titles per page browsing to find the title we are browsing for.
Hats off to Google – yet another attempt to monetise its products and content 🙂
