Had the opportunity this week to spend time with an Epicor implementation and configuration specialist on a project for a client. Given that we have already provisioned the virtual infrastructure for the client – the admin training was an opportunity to guage what changes in configuration would be required to move from a three virtual server configuration to a production ready combination of physical and virtual machines.
It was very enlightening to talk about the internals of the Epicor ERP system as it explained quite a few things that were previous unclear or unknown. It also highlighted the need for proactive monitoring to establish and maintain a healthy system by knowing what is normal operation and what is not.
I am planning a specialised monitoring system for the client to encompass this LOB application as well as local and remote infrastructure that has grown over the last two years to support the business.
Thanks again James for an illuminating course – looking forward to the next stage of implementation
